Lots of fun at the 2018 Festival!

Despite the weather, Irlam and Cadishead showed once again that the community spirit within the district is a force to be reckoned with at this year’s festival!

Crowds turned out before the festival even officially opened to try and hunt down a bargain at the car boot sale. Followed by the always popular dog show, with many classes including over a dozen entries in each!

The fun fair kept the thrill seekers busy with the old classic like the waltzers, dodgems and all the fun on the fair whilst the Irlam and Cadishead Times Football Competition provided some entertainment as Irlam Rangers, Irlam Vale and Tiger Moth FC went head to head.

The Grocers in Cadishead served up some traditional ales and ciders to those enjoying the brilliant tunes in the music tent! If that wasn’t your particular fancy, you could enjoy the tea tent and enjoy a brew, coffee and some home-made baking to take a break from the fun.

In-between all this was the usual stalls, including the Hamilton Davies Trust and Friends of Irlam Station stall, showcasing the great work and opportunities for volunteers in the district!

As always, the festival ended with its spectacular Fireworks Finale at 9pm, rounding off what was another great festival.

A huge thanks to all the organisers who have worked tirelessly to put this year’s festival together. Click here to view a gallery from the day.

Running in conjunction with the main festival, the open day at Irlam Community Fire Station included the climbing wall – which was part funded by HDT, mini fire engine rides, vintage fire engines and displays of different fire appliances. All highlighting what great firefighting heroes we have not just across Greater Manchester but in Irlam and Cadishead!
