RBL Poppy Appeal I&C
The community raised £19,506,17 for the 2023 RBL Poppy Appeal – FANTASTIC!
The Poppy Appeal Committee of Irlam and Cadishead are a group of people from the Hamilton Davies Trust, Rotary Club of Irlam, Probus and general public. They give their time to support the Royal British Legion with the Annual Poppy Appeal by proving a table each day at Tesco’s from late October to Remembrance Saturday. The team deliver boxes of goods to purchase at schools and drop off boxes of paper lapel poppies to businesses, as well as asking to sponsor a lamppost poppies along Liverpool Rd, Cadishead through to Irlam and Manchester Rd Hollins Green for only £5 each. Hamilton Davies Trust also are the hub for wreaths to lay at the Cenotaph in Princes Park.
Irlam and Cadishead have a long association with the Royal British Legion having many of the residents enlist in both World Wars and continuing to do so to the present day.
Annually the district support the ‘RBL Poppy Appeal’ which now includes the ‘Lamp Post Poppy Appeal’ which started in 2015 and was the first district to adopt this commemorative display.
LAMP POST POPPY APPEAL
Every year there is an appeal for local businesses, groups, schools and individuals to sponsor one or more of these lamp post poppies in Irlam, Cadishead and Hollins Green for a min of £5 each. 100% of which goes direct to the RBL Poppy Appeal. In return, on the FRONT of each Poppy will be printed the name of the business/group/school/individual who sponsored it or it can be the name of the person in whose memory is to be displayed.
