Inner Wheel 2000
The Inner Wheel 2000 is the ladies section of the Rotary Club International-Irlam Branch and are active in their own right. Irlam Inner Wheel began in 1970 and relaunched in 2000 to commemorate the millennium.
‘Inner Wheel was officially born in 1924 – and its centennial anniversary is rapidly approaching – thanks to the initiative of a group of ladies who met at the Turkish Baths in Manchester and gave start to one of the most important volunteering Organisations in the world.
Inner Wheel is one of the largest women’s organisations in the world . It has 19,000 members within the United Kingdom and over 100,000 Members from more than 103 countries across the world
They help people by extending the hand of friendship.
The objects of Inner Wheel are:
- To promote true friendship
- To encourage the ideals of service
- To foster international understanding
- Inner wheel is Women in action, working together to make a difference and improving lives
They work together with partner organisations ie. Rotary International giving humanitarian aid both nationally and internationally and have a positive impact on the lives of millions of people.
The Inner Wheel of Irlam 2000 has worked closely with local charities, fund raising for Marie Curie, The Air Ambulance, Salvation Army, and the local Dementia friends group . They also support Salford Womens Aid with Christmas gifts for Mums and children and hold an annual Christmas party for the Irlam Disabled group. They donate Baby bundles for needy newborns at home and abroad and support Water Aid providing clean water for isolated villages abroad
Irlam 2000 meet monthly at The Clubhouse Barton on the 2nd Friday of the month at 11:30am
