Hulmes Ferry

Fancy a trip across the Manchester Ship Canal from Irlam to Davyhulme or Flixton?

Free to foot passengers, the ferry can carry 6 persons at a time and takes approximately 2-3 minutes.

Unfortunately the ferry doesn’t run all year round and is only active between the end of April and beginning of November each year. Further information on the ferry’s schedule is detailed below. During its ‘open’ months the ferry may be cancelled from time to time due to bad weather or flood water.

To reach the ferry from Irlam go towards Boysnope Golf Club. Just before the entrance to the Golf Club turn right off Liverpool Road into the industrial estate. Keep to the left through the site, there is a gap in the hedge giving access to the footpath which takes you down to the jetty.
