Footpaths around Rixton
Walks vary in length from 1.5 miles to 4.5 miles – all on level terrain. Boots or strong footwear recommended. Walks start from the lay-by on Manchester Road, Hollins Green or from Irlam Leisure Centre in Irlam.
The No. 100 bus from Warrington and Manchester stops outside The Black Swan pub on Manchester Road near to the start of the walk. Walk leaflets include map, local illustrations and a few historical points of interest. Refreshments are available on route at: – The Black Swan and Ye Olde Red Lion pubs in Hollins Green – Hollins Green Community Shop – The LA Cafe, near Rixton Claypits Nature Reserve Walk – The Greenery Cafe in Glazebrook – The Station cafe at Irlam Station and the Boathouse in Irlam.
